BMW ART CLUB. The Future is Art.
New ideas are born at the intersection of art and new technologies.
BMW ART CLUB. The Future is Art is a Programme of presenting innovative artistic events introduced by BMW Poland in 2018, and organised in partnership with Poland’s principal institutions of culture.
The BMW ART CLUB. The Future is Art‘s leitmotif focuses on relations between art and advanced technologies, alongside values, ideas and visions of the future developed at the juncture of the two fields. Owing to the initiative, BMW has joined the discussion of how technology and science transform contemporary culture and ways of perceiving reality and experiencing the world. Continually at the heart of all events organised as part of the Programme, artists remain fully independent in responding to questions asked by BMW Art Club. The Future is Art.

In partnership with leading institutions, BMW develops spaces allowing innovative artists to meet their audiences.
Former Programme partners have included the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Grand Theatre – Polish National Opera, and Nowy Theatre in Warsaw. The list of BMW Art Club. The Future is Art contributing artists includes Witek Orski, Boris Kudlička, Michael Hansmeyer, and the Marshmallow Laser Feast collective. All BMW Art Club. The Future is Art projects are designed jointly with the staff of selected institutions of culture, and made part of their official repertoires with intent to develop the best and possibly expansive platforms for audiences to encounter innovative art projects.

BMW Drives Culture
Creativity, freedom, creating new values.

The BMW Art Club. The Future is Art Programme forms part of a broader BMW Drives Culture brand strategy, expressed through profound involvement in backing authors, artists and art events worldwide for the past fifty years. This policy of commitment has also been shown in the brand’s presence at leading art events (i.a. at Art Basel, Paris Photo, Art Dubai), projects developed in collaboration with prestigious institutions (such as Tate Modern in London and Teatro alla Scala in Milan), and – primarily – creative partnership with the most eminent contemporary artists, including the likes of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jenny Holzer, Olafur Eliasson, Jeff Koons, Nick Knight and Anne Imhof.

THE DREAM OF the MACHIE consists of three complementary elements:

FILM ESSAY

The first one is the film essay in the form of a multimedia immersive exhibition saturating the MOS exhibition space of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Krakow. The essay features Theater’s actors and actresses: Lidia Bogaczówna, Marta Konarska, Daniel Malchar and Antek Sztaba.

GARDEN AND SOUND EXPERIENCE

The second one is an audio experience in the green space of the garden on Plac Świętego Ducha. The garden was revitalised according to NOVIKI’s concept in cooperation with Cracow green areas architects. Revitalisation was possible thanks to BMW involvement. The resultant space is a green oasis offering an artistic experience, and a place of respite from urban commotion.

Augmented Reality of The DREAM OF THE MACHINE

The third element, that amalgamates the Dream of the Machine referenced in the film essay with the real experience of the garden on Plac Świętego Ducha, is a BMW i7 limousine. Presented near the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Krakow as an art form designed by NOVIKI, the all-electric BMW i7 limousine has undergone transformation as well and has become and integral part of the project.
